Trip done with Child Life United

In May 2018, I had the opportunity to serve Puerto Rico as a child life specialist after Hurricane Maria. I volunteered at San Jorge Children's Hospital with 6 other child life specialists. It was truly an amazing experience. I learned conversational Spanish, which increased rapport building with patients that I use currently in my work. I did rotations throughout the inpatient units, ED, OR, mental health unit, and PICU. The kids absolutely loved it, as did I!
